Last week, I once again teamed up with Plywood Productions to be a part of their entry into an online contest called "Project:Direct." It was shot almost entirely on 'green screen,' which was a blast.

The contest challenges movie makers to create a video that meets a set of requirements (time limit, theme, content, specific lines included, etc). All the entries to the contest are on YouTube, and in a few weeks they will be narrowed down to 20 selections which people can vote on.  With your help, we can try to get some buzz out there early on. If it is one of the final 20, it will have an advantage in the voting.

So... Take 7 minutes and have a look!

... The Cult of Sincerity, by Plywood Productions & director Brendan Choisnet, is my latest film project. It was shot in Brooklyn this past winter and is schedule to reach completion this fall. They now have a great website up, with some juicy clips to pique your curiosity. Take a gander: www.CultofSincerity.com

... Plasterhead has been officially released in the US and Canada! Look for it at your local Blockbuster or Hollywood Video, find it online with Amazon.com or order it through Netflix!

... The Prince Hamlet has gotten rave reviews, including one from Toronto's Globe and Mail. You can check a few of them out online - here's a link to Now Toronto's and the National Post.

It's official:"Plasterhead" has been picked up by Arts Alliance America for US & Canadian distribution.  Arts Alliance America is probably best known for distributing the award-winning documentary "Super Size Me".  The film is slated to come out on October 2nd, just in time for prime Halloween season.

But of course, if you're feeling eager, you can always pre-order it on Amazon.com.

I'm headed to Toronto in August to perform Ophelia in an adaptation of Hamlet with the Why Not Theatre Company, under the direction of Ravi Jain, an old friend and former classmate at NYU. This is the inaugural production with his company, which was formed at the Le Coq school in Paris. The show, which features an international cast, will run for 5 weeks, opening in mid-September.

Thirsty now showing on Atom Films! Here's the blurb I snagged from the Ugly Betty Production's website:

See Thirsty on Atom Films! Please check it out and check it often (the more clicks we get the higher our standing, etc.). And give it a top star rating and a thumbs-up comment - if you are so inclined... Of course feel free to pass the link on to other friends.

To give comments, you must join Atom and log in, which takes about a minute... trust us, we tried it! Also, once logged in you can watch the film at it's highest resolution (700k) which looks stunning.

Bike Messenger Girl Ride's Again!

After an amazing festival run, the short I did with Bo Mehrad and Ugly Betty Productions (in which I played Bike Messenger girl Gina) has been acquired by MTV owned Atom Films.

Thirsty will be making its online debut shortly (no pun intended). I'll keep you posted as things progress.

Also, in other related news, Thirsty recently screened at The Newport Beach Film Festival in Southern California.

Looks like I'll be spending July on an island of the coast of Maine! I've been cast in THE TAMING OF THE SHREW at SHAKESPEARE IN STONINGTON. This will give me the chance to finally work wtih Julia Whitworth. Whitworth, co-founder of the popular and acclaimed Shakespeare in Stonington series (original productions of the Bard’s classics) returns to direct an almost entirely female cast for this gala production. Whitworth’s adaptation of one of Shakespeare’s most troubling comedies looks at the alleged “problem” of being an unconventional woman, and examines the fine line between falling in love and falling in line. Placing the Elizabethan play against the backdrop of a 1950s “women-in-prison” film noir, Whitworth and her cohorts use their signature physicality and humor to interrogate a play about conformity, gender, marriage--and maybe even love.

I've just wrapped filming The Cult of Sincerity, a feature length independent produced by Plywood Pictures and co-directed by Brendan Choisnet & Adam Browne. I call it a pop-comedy (think a modern Reality Bites), and I play super smart literary mag editor Paula. I had an amazing time working with these guys and am so excited to see the finished product, which will probably be on the scene by the fall.
